MultiType Glitch Display for Web Design

It was a late afternoon when I first tested MultiType Glitch Display in the hero section of a boutique online store I was redesigning. The moment I applied the font to the headline, something clicked — it felt like the perfect blend of modern and edgy, exactly what the brand needed to stand out. This pixelated display font brings a distorted yet trendy energy that can transform any digital space.

MultiType Glitch Display is a uniquely shaped, pixelated display font that adds a distorted and trendy touch to your designs. It’s not your average sans serif or serif font; instead, it offers a fresh twist with its glitch aesthetic. This makes it ideal for websites that want to make a bold statement without losing their creative edge.

A Bold Addition to Hero Sections

I used MultiType Glitch Display on the main headline of the hero section, placing it over a full-width image banner. The contrast between the pixelated text and the smooth background made the title pop. It immediately caught attention, which is crucial for landing pages and product banners where first impressions matter most.

The font has a distinct visual personality — it feels playful yet professional. Its charm lies in its ability to convey a sense of innovation and trendiness. When paired with a clean sans serif font for body copy, the contrast helps maintain readability while keeping the design visually engaging.

Responsive Layouts and Mobile Readability

One of the things I considered was how this font would look on mobile devices. I tested it across several screen sizes, and while it looked great on desktops, I noticed that the pixelation could become less readable on smaller screens. For that reason, I recommend using it for larger headings or short phrases rather than long blocks of text.

When placed over dark backgrounds, the font maintained good visibility, but on light backgrounds, I had to adjust the color slightly to ensure it didn’t get lost. A deep navy or a vibrant red worked well, adding an extra layer of visual interest to the design.

Perfect for Call-to-Action Areas

In the call-to-action section of the website, I used MultiType Glitch Display for the button text. The font’s unique shape and style helped draw the eye to the action area, increasing the likelihood of user engagement. However, I kept the button size large enough to accommodate the font without sacrificing usability.

For digital ads and promotional banners, this font also works exceptionally well. Its glitch aesthetic fits perfectly with campaigns targeting younger audiences or tech-savvy users looking for something different from the usual typography.

Font Pairing and Brand Consistency

When working with a display font like MultiType Glitch Display, it's important to pair it with a complementary font that maintains brand consistency. In this case, I chose a simple sans serif font for body copy and navigation elements. This created a balanced layout that was both visually appealing and easy to read.

Another option is to use a serif font for a more editorial feel, especially if the website has a blog or content-heavy sections. The key is to ensure that the combination doesn't clash and that the overall design remains cohesive.

What to Avoid with MultiType Glitch Display

While this font is excellent for headlines and decorative accents, it may not be the best choice for long paragraphs or small navigation text. Its stylized nature can make it challenging to read in dense layouts or on tiny screens. I also avoided using it for form labels or accessibility-focused interfaces, where clarity is essential.

Before using MultiType Glitch Display on a live site, I checked the available styles, alternates, and file formats. It came with PUA encoding, which allowed access to all glyphs and special characters. I also made sure the font had proper webfont availability and commercial licensing, which is crucial for client projects and online stores.

MultiType Glitch Display is a versatile tool that can elevate the visual appeal of any digital project. Whether you're designing a landing page, a portfolio site, or an online shop, this font adds a unique flair that sets your brand apart. Just remember to use it wisely, considering readability and context, and you'll be able to create stunning, impactful designs that resonate with your audience.
